THE HAMMONDKNOLL STORY
THE HAMMONDKNOLL STORY
Local entrepreneur Ed Cartozian started cleaning oriental and area rugs in Tacoma in the 1930s. After WWII, the cleaning company moved to the present location on South G St. in Tacoma. In the early 1950′s, Ed began selling the newly popular broadloom carpeting (known today as wall-to-wall) and sold the cleaning business to two of his employees with the last names of Hammond and Knoll
In 1987, Matt O’Haleck bought the local carpet store and building from owner Ed Cartozian. In its first year under new ownership, revenue increased 400 percent. The business has continued to grow 15 times larger since 1987, expanding from three employees to thirty.
Serving Western Washington since 1939, HammondKnoll continues its tradition of excellent service established by its founders.
