Hammond Knoll’s Story
Local entrepreneur Ed Cartozian started cleaning oriental and area rugs in Tacoma in the 1930s. After WWII, the cleaning company moved to the present location on South G St. in Tacoma. In the early 1950′s, Ed began selling the newly popular broadloom carpeting (known today as wall-to-wall) and sold the cleaning business to two of his employees with the last names of Hammond and Knoll.
In 1987, Matt O’Haleck bought the local carpet store and building from owner Ed Cartozian. In its first year under new ownership, revenue increased 400 percent. The business has continued to grow 15 times larger since 1987, expanding from three employees to thirty. Today, Hammond Knoll continues its tradition of excellent service established by its founders.
Hammond Knoll’s people and workmanship are the keys to our pride and success. Employees strive to provide the best cleaning and service to our valued customers.
